Abstract:
The main points underlying the purpose of the study can best be
summarized in the following statements :
(a) to appreciate the land-use changes in Eshowe and identify
the main zones within the area;
(b) to reveal the extent of development* which may have occurred
within the stipulated time frame (1970 - 1990) ;
(c) to identify the relative areas contributing to the different
land uses and the changes that have occurred through time;
( d) t o study and disclose how the standard of living has influenced
certain land-use changes ; and
(e) to show that the character , problems and processes are
typical of small town environments .
